SOTD Saturday 5th - Friday 11th August

Tuesday's shave :)

Pre-shave - Shower and face wash with Wright's Cold Tar Soap, followed by Warm water.
Razor - ATT SE1
Blade - KAI Captain Titan Mild (Pink) (day 3),
Soap - Executive Shaving - Natural Shave Cream.
Brush - Omega "Hi-Brush" Synthetic Fibre Shaving Brush, "Barber Pole".
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery shave bowl.
Post shave - OSP Aftershave Tonic - Eucalyptus and Menthol.

A very nice 3 pass shave this morning: WTG; ATG and XTG.

The quality of my lathers from using a ceramic shave bowl are most impressive, if I may say so. Decided to omit pre-shave oil today, the lather on the skin felt divine: excellent protection and glide. Also decided to just go for some OSP splash to finish off - no Aloe Vera or balm. Skin feels nice: supple, and fresh.

The Little Wren shave bowl is making a real difference. I would not have come across that, if it were not for my (almost) daily drop-ins into the shave of the day thread :)

All the best,

Chris

Great to hear how pleased you are with the Little Wren Pottery bowl.
Have you got a photo of it?

Greetings All,

Tuesday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: Prorosa Red pre-share
Soap: Wickham 1912 Classic 24
Razor: Rockwell 6C (3P)
Blade: Wilkinson (1st)
Brush:RazoRock 400 Noir

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, followed by a shower then Proraso aftershave lotion (red) and Nivea 2 Phase.

Ok, still had sore skin from the shave on Monday, but this one was 1,000 times better. Great soap, and the Wilkinson sword blade was nice. Not BBS as I did not want to over shave this morning.

sotd 8th Aug.JPG
Pre Shave: Hot Shower + L'Oreal Pure Power Charcoal Face Wash and Proraso Green
Razor: Timeless 0.95 scalloped base plate with scalloped cap
Blade: Polsilver Stainless (Lodz) (#3)
Brush: Maseto 30mm 2 band finest fan shape
Soap: Czech & Speake - Oxford & Cambridge
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphreys Witch Hazel
AS: Nivea soothing balm

Another shave with the Timeless, this time with the 0.95 scalloped base plate, and another nice close shave, I did manage one small weeper today, I am surprised that this is the first considering how close the Timeless shaves. A little bit of irritation post shave but it faded very quickly.

Tuesday evening...

Soap - Valobra Menthol
Brush - RazoRock Plissoft 24mm
Face lather
Razor - Gillette Slim adj. (No. 7) 1967
Blade - Polsilver SI #3
Post - Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
After Shave - Proraso M&E

The Valobra is a great soap, imo. It took no time to get plenty thick protective unctuousness for the blade. 3 passes, no pick-ups and smoother than a Carerra marble statue of the Three Graces (the photo of the statue was too large; hence the metaphor).

Wilko fruits Coconut & Vanilla body butter
Pre De Provence No 63
RazoRock 400 Plissoft Noir
Merkur 39c
Astra SP (2)
Lavender / witch hazel mixture
Wickham 1912 Irish Fern ASB
Ard Al Zaafaran Oud 24 EDP

Three passes on two days growth without mishap.
I really like the delicate scent from this soap, it's very pleasant.
It's very slick, but for me it takes quite a long time to build a lather that's not too dry.
The razor/blade combo made easy work of two days growth without irritation.
The Wickham ASB scent is still very evident three hours after application.
A few light sprays of Oud 24 to finish and I feel smooth and smell pretty good.
I've used the 39c for my last three shaves so I'll give another razor a run out for my next.

Razor: Scimitar Bluebeards Revenge
Blade: Feather (3)
Brush: Tres Amigos Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White
Soap: Nuavia Blue
A/S: Floid Blue

Really enjoying my 3 passes with a touch up.

Another beautiful pic my friend. :)

I am intrigued by your razor. How would you describe its performance.
Is it aggressive?

Many thanks,
Wayne.

After reading about this new fangled cold shaving I thought I'd give it a bash.

Prep: Luke warn splash
Razor: WS Hydro 5 (7 I think)
Cream: Simpsons Peppermint and rosemary
Brush: Simpsons Chubby Synthetic
Post: L'Oreal tree birch

My face felt quite refreshed during the prep and comfortable during the shave. the usual spots I get at the base of my neck having appeared but I do have a red patch, quickly soothed with the balm.

Into a hot shower straight after. My skin feels very conditioned but the shave doesn't seem to of been as close leading to a slight uncomfortable feeling on my neck and me looking a little more stubbally than normal.

Verdict: further investigation needed.
