D3C19371-C19D-4868-8B21-35B8C61C860A.jpegA lovely 3 pass shave with the local Brazilian Products.
This stuff is probably some of the cheapest products on the market yet produced a brilliant shave.
The cream whipped up a wonderful lather & no issues at all.
The blade mowed down 4 days of growth at ease on its 4th use.
it’s very unusual for me to use a blade more than 3 times but i thought i would give this one a go.
i’ll definitely try it a fifth time to see how it goes but i’m fairly confident it will be just fine.
That’s me off to bed
i had a heavy night on the sauce last night lol

Pre - Sainsbury's Luxury Soap, Bergamot & Nectarine
Brush - Semogue Torga C5 Boar
Soap - Signature Soap Vectis
Razor - Tatara Masamune
Blade - Personna Med Prep
Post - Cold water Rinse
Balm - Tonyschin's Cedarwood and Patchouli Argan Oil and Balm
A/S - Dior Sauvage

A couple of things this morning?
Firstly this boar knot is quite frustrating, a bit of a hog this morning even though the Signature soaps are among the easiest soaps i have that produce voluminous amounts of the good stuff needed for the shave, today i needed to revisit the pot for the second pass.
Secondly, i am not sure about the longer Nodachi handle, i may get used to it. The Masamune head though is a winner for me.
Overall a very nice shave
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.

what are your smaller brushes of choice?
I always seem to return to one of two brushes - a Frank Shaving two-band 22mm or mostly a humble Simpson Special in best at 18mm. Either is effortlessly good for anything from triple-milled to tube cream and all points in between. These days anything above 26mm feels messy and excessive to me. Also, controversially, I don't hold with the current vogue for the seemingly ubiquitous ultra-high density knots - a brush can be overstuffed in my opinion. Strange how one's tastes change? cheers - I.

An excellent Emporium purchase, I'm sure you'll agree

There's a chance you might run out. Best not to take any chances and get some more blades.

Tuesday 17 January
First shave after Exeter last weekend. Significant flooding down in the West Country, Devon and Dorset, not too bad here in West Sussex, although woke up to a heavy frost on the fields this morning

Decided this week to go DE OC.
First up Gillette OC 1921-28 Old Type.
Personna Platinum Chrome (6x)
Extro Positano soap
22mm Boots badger brush of unknown age

The old badger has mellowed with age, much like me and still got a good creamy lather going whipping up the Positano, a real favourite of mine. I love the smell but can’t describe it so had to look it up. It’s made with St John’s wort so is anti-inflammatory with a fragrance of fig, aniseed and grasses according to the sales blurb. I just know I love it and the after shave version will be splashed on toot sweet!
The Gillette is a joy to use, aided by the Personna blade it needed one main pass wtg then a second atg plus pick ups for a smooth and luxurious shave. Take a bow Gillette design engineers (y)
Have a great day fellas.

Fantastic shave! I’d forgotten just how good these old Wilkie sticks are. The Holy Trinity of tallow, glycerin and lanolin serves them very well indeed plus the scent is a cracking, masculine cologne type. If you come across any in the wild, grab them with both hands. With thanks to @donnie_arko for sourcing me a few a while back and to @pjgh for generously piffing me one.

17/1/23

Pre - Palmolive
Soap - tallow Tabac stick
Brush - Yaqi G4
Razor - Ball End Tech
Blade - Shark Platinum (5)
Post - Lea 0%
AS - Denim Original

This particular brush, it's a great brush for bowl lathering, but absolutely horrible for face lathering, too much backbone/resistance and it's too springy.

A delightful Tabac lather, and great shave with the Shark Platinum.
