S.O.T.D. Saturday 20th to Friday 26th sept

Wednesday xxiv September, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Dr. Bronner's Soap
Pre: Splash of cold water
Brush: Edwin Jagger Travel Badger
Soap: Mama Bear's Ye Olde Barber Shoppe Stick
Razor: Merkur 46C Travel Razor
Blade: Crown Stainless
Post: Thayer's Medicated WH, QCS Esquire ASB
Fragrance: Houbigant Fougère Royale

Result: Hotel shave with some bits and bobs cobbled together in a bit of a hurry, but a fine result nonetheless. Managed to get a very good lather out of the Mama Bears, which I can't seem to achieve at home - softer water perhaps?

All the best,

Jon

This is fast becoming my favourite combination in terms of prep, soap and razor.
Always end up with a bit of irritation, should stop pushing for BBS..

Evening, everyone.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock yellow (5)
Brush: Kabuki Bamboo
Shave soap: Super Smooth Southsea Spray
Aftershave: Eau de Brut
Cologne: Yardley Citrus and Wood

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

Savile Row badger
Webler'/Personna74 (NOS)
XPEC unscented with plenty of vintage Givenchy Xeryus EdT added
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (black bottle)

Second time using this blade and I always refuse to believe how sharp these are, at least at first. Now after being left with a few small weepers after both shaves, I again know I need to pay more attention. Damn things are so sharp I can't feel any unpleasantness until I'm done and see the tiny red marks. Reminds me of a Feather blade, but smoother. Heh, The old Personna maybe not be quite as forgiving as I thought they were. I know the Personna 74 injector blades are too much for me.

BBS results,

Martin
