S.O.T.D. Saturday 22th June to Friday 28th June 2013 ...

Monday:

Hot shower prep
Gillette Slim with 7 o'clock yellow
TOBS Eton College cream
NF Tubby1 in super 2 band
RSC aftershave balm
007 Ocean Royale aftershave

Still learning to get the lather going on the Tubby. Decent enough shave though.

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Edv Neiström no 52, 9/16" 1/4 hollow
Brush: Neep #1213 Aztec in malachite (29mm extra silvertip)
Soap: Prof Blighty's Peppermint

Not the best... First pass dragged badly, maybe this razor needs touching up; and a small corner of the base of my Aztec chipped away with no apparent provocation (probably cracked in a previous shave's moment of clumsiness) and disappeared down the drain. Arseholes.

Greetings

Monday 24th June 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Gillette New
Blade: Treet Durasharp Carbon
Brush: Burma Shave Boar
Soap: Palmolive Stick grated into a container
Aftershave: Astral Cream (light)

I have decided that as I still have several DE razors I really should make an effort to at least have one DE shave a week.

This shave was just perfect in every way and as a result of using the cheapest soap a super cheap brush and cheap blade, all of which perform as good as the most expensive products.

Regards
Dick

Today's Shave early for me today as I have to go to a meeting so up and about nice and early. Two cups of Twinings Everyday Tea and into the bathroom.

Razor Merkur 38c Barber Pole
Blade Wilkinson Sword (Used before in EJ89) 2nd Use
Brush Chinese badger
TOBS Sandlewood Bowl lathered
TOBS A Superb Gentleman's Aftershave.
Result absolutely fantastically clean smooth shave BBS all the way.

So my second shave with the Merkur how pleased am I BBS and minimal touch ups.
Now I have mentioned that my technique is improving all the time so tomorrow I will use the EJ 89 for a back to back comparison.
I have a temporary shaving bowl at the moment but the results are fantastic and very rewarding.
I will be breaking out the camera soon, but you guys put my photography skills where my shaving skills were a short time ago.

Morning, gents.

Monday:

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ89 with iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Kell's Aloe and Hemp, Energy
A/S: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: Giorgio Beverly Hills

Very good indeed.

Following shower prep and Omega brush Wilkinson blue pot lathered and applied. I then reached for recently acquired Gem SE off white plastic handle new blade inserted and we were off.

Outcome. An enjoyable shave with good results.
(Hoped to add photo... Too large and don't know how to reduce , oh well)

Vintage Surrey shaving soap
Henk walnut silvertip
Fatboy on 4 with Personna Lab Blue
Superdrug Sierran Breeze a/s

Very good. Didn't push for BBS but still got a partial one.

Monday morning

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
Palmolive stick, face lathered
New Forest 1901 brush
Gillatte aristocrat #66
Gillette 7 o'clock black(3)
Alum/witch hazel gel
Old spice after shave

Nice shave but that is the end of this blade which seems to give up about 3/4 of the way through the shave!

Prep: Village Barber Oil
Cream: T&H West Indian Limes Sample
Brush: NF Tubby 1
Razor: Weber DLC/UFO U2
Post: Dr Harris - Windsor Aftershave, followed by village barber balm

A nice shave, whilst I like the performance of the West Indian Limes the scent isn't strong enough for me.

I don't usually shave everyday, but during a rare few hours of boredom I decided to have a multiple stropping session with some of my razors, well after stropping the big bad ass Filly I just couldn't resist, so the Filly and I set off hand in hand for the bathroom, well what can I say this razor is without doubt not only a looker but my God does she shave superbly, I rarely hold or place any items or objects I own into a bracket of being to precious to use or even sell, but this is one razor that I would never sell or part company with.
