Prep: Liz Earle face wash and scrub in the shower, hot flannel pre shave
Brush: Simpsons Persian Jar 2 Super, bowl made by my wife :)
Soap: Nannys Rose Geranium
Razor: Dovo Natural
Post: Cold Flannel, Alum and Liz Earle moisturiser
EdT: Old spice (new) for a giggle.

Very pleasant 2-pass shave. Only a bit of bother with angles - still learning the manoeuvring required for a straight and can't manage with the left hand. One nick caused by hiccuping.
Over all pretty smooth and relatively sting free.

MWF (soap of the week)
Proraso AS

First time using MWF in a while, left it to soak with a bit of water while bathing. Went at it with a damp boar brush and it seemed to explode into lather. Went straight to the face rather than the bowl and had enough for 3+ passes. This particular soap does seem to bring me out in red blotches (lanolin?) so will see how it fares this week.

Evening, everyone.

Monday:

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Schick Injector E3
Blade: Schick Injector (3)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Kell's Hemp and Aloe uncented stick
A/S: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: TV Men, Perfume Parlour's take on Tabacco Vanille

A much better shave today (thanks to Dick for the pep-talk). I used very short, light strokes and, instead of laying the injector head flush on my skin, I tilted it slightly so that the blade was facing a little bit away. The shave was still pretty close but without any irritation apart from a couple of nicks under my lower lip: getting the angle right is tricky there. I've used the TV Men for a second day because I really like the scent.

Hot face splash

Weber Pol/Bulldog
Gillette Super Platinum Blue
MWF Face Lathered
24mm TGN finest XH brush
Alum

Loads of lather from the MWF - hard to contain it. Nice smooth shave with some sting from Alum but a couple of weepers. Will try this blade in DE89 tomoz.

Monday:

Mitchell's Wool Fat (Soap of the week)
Semogue 2012 SE
Long Comb New/JEC handle
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
Witch Hazel
Barbershop Bay Rum

Great lather from the MWF, it's one of my favourite soaps. Clean and smooth.

My first shave of the MWF week - I want to be up and out as quickly as possible in the morning (augmented by it being half term) so a rare evening shave.

Proraso pre / post
MVF / Kent BK2
EJ DE89 / Rapira pink'n'blue (2nd use)
Proraso pre / post

Smashing shave! Very comfortable and close. I've been a fan of face lathering for a while now (works very well with Speick and Proraso soaps) but have never found it to be especially effective with MWF.

I had been doing some test lathers on my palm and came to the conclusion that it was a much more effective technique (for me) than face lathering. I think it's because MWF (and other similarly hard soaps) need plenty of work on the lather, with it needing to be progressively whipped up - my chops are simply too concave for that to work :D

Anyway, I built a really dense lather that seemed to get better with each of the 3 passes. Plenty left over for at least a couple of additional passes had I required them. It almost seemed a waste to wash it down the sink (but I had nothing else I was willing to shave).

Good stuff!

Tuesday 28th May
Prep: Hot shower, Dove men+care face scrub.
Brush: NF 2041.
Cream: TOBS Rose- Face lathered.
Razor: Old Type Copy (Thanks Brian!).
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium #3 (Thanks Cyril!).
Post: Witch Hazel, RSC Post shave balm.

Not too great a shave. For some reason I decided to add water to the brush for the second lathering up, and added far too much, resulting in a very rubbish and watery lather. No irritation or the like, just not too comfortable. Still a very close shave though.
I really like this blade and razor together, seem to give an excellent shave, when I get the lather right. Thanks to both 782sirbrian and Hairsuite. Onto my trusty EJ next, to test out another new blade.
