30 November Shave

A good shave but the Quattro Soap tended to dry a bit in use. 2 pass DFS using the Long Handled SA and the Big Ben on day number 3.

Vintage Colgate shaving stick (thanks alancrab)
Vulfix 404 Grosvenor
Gillette Blue II disposable (2)
Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue a/s (thanks fly3k)

A little more patchy BBS than the first shave but still very good.

Kent soap
Vulfix Bodger
Fat Handle Tech, Feather
Skin Bracer

I had been seriously thinking of selling this razor, but thought I'd try a Feather in it 1st. Glad I did. A much better pairing than with Polsilver Stainless or English Wilkie.

Soap: Wickham SS - Sheridan's
Brush: Custom 400 Boar
Razor: Gillette Flare Tip
Blade: Feather
EDP: Floris - Patchouli

Fantastic two passes, thought I would give the DE a go tonight. Been using the 1912 SE non stop for 3 weeks so felt like something different. All in all it made for a pleasant change. I'm also enjoying Floris Patchouli, been getting some great feedback from the ladies. :)

Hot water face splash
Mickey Lee Soapworks Drunken Goat
New Forest High Mountain White 2224
Feather AS-D2
Gillette Nacet Stainless
Cold water face splash
Arko After Shave Balm - Ice Mint
Old Spice Original After Shave splash

Prep - Shower / Almond soap, pre-lather / hot towel
Razor - Slim Adjustable
Blade - Astra SP (#5)
Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Beer Soap Brewing Co. Spearmint & Eucalyptus
After - Alum / Witch Hazel
Result - BBS

Not the pre-shave routine I'd recommend either! Put my pre-lather on, checked the fire for logs, spark came out and hit me fair and square on the Adam's apple. Got a huge blister now.......and it €%#¥&@! hurts

I wonder what his Pantie Dropper AS milk smells like?! Great name.

Prep- Tepid water splash
Soap- Reef Point 'Peeerless'
Brush- SOC
Razor- Ever Ready 1912
Blade- GEM stainless coated [2]
Post- alum, Thayers witch hazel, Alt Innsbruck AS

Fancontroller asked for my take on the soap:- the soap I found is thirsty and used all the water in the Boar up, but lathers up nicely with some work. The soap is of average slickness in my opinion with a slight tingle in use and after feel. I agree with Fancontroller about the scent being more of a green tobacco smell which I like.

Monday i December, 2014

After the start the year that I had, when all about me seemed to be crumbling I am delighted to get to December in one piece. Hooray!

Prep: Hot shower, King of Shaves Exfoliating Super Facial Scrub
Pre: TOBS Pre-Shave Herbal Gel
Brush: The Shave Nook 2014 Limited Edition Simpson's M6
Soap: M&F Sandalwood & Shea Butter
Razor: iKon 2PB
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium #1
Post: Alum, Thayer's Medicasted Witch Hazel w. Sandalwood Oil, Trumper's Sandalwood Skin Food

Result: I had forgotten just how mild the iKon 2PB is. Mild, but effective that is. Two days growth mown down in three super smooth passes on the Open Comb side.

All the best, guys,

Jon

Regarding the 1914:

Wow! What a razor!
Amazing shave, dare I say that it knocks the 1912 off pole position IMHO!

Sir, you have slighted the name, honour and reputation of my good friend and companion. I demand satisfaction!

But yes, the 1914 is one hell of a shave and was, in its day, very much the competitor to the 1912 design Damaskeene as it was at the time.

But the 1912 has, will and always will be the de facto, the standard around which all other SEs are gauged and will remain the top and most recommended SE razor ... forever! :D

Nice 2 pass WTG 1 pass XTG shave, nice and smooth with small patches of rough around the chin when rubbed against the grain. Very much acceptable shave though.
