In the 1990s the blade tray had a different shape because it was designed to fit a wall bracket which the razor was sold in. The bracket could be screwed to the wall to hold the razor (WS Classic), and the blade tray fitted into a space on the bracket.

I would recommend Dove. They make a scrub and face wash, and a shaving cream. They have a creamy texture, and you can occasionally get them at half or reduced price in most supermarkets.

I used the WS shaving soap in a blue bowl last year, and I always got good lathers from it. The earlier black bowl version wasn't so good, but that was in the 1990s.
