Big Boars brush restores.

Marvellous work, Mr Large Pig! Your attention to detail especially on the lucite ER is summat else. Love to see 404s re-knotted so well also - such a great handle.

Thought about lacquers, problem is it's ally, so it instantly oxidises.

They are a bit of a pain, but I quite like the burnished look on mine, adds character.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned clear anodizing. (or rather, "anodising" is probably the proper spelling here. Similar to "Sterilized" vs. "Sterilised"). :)

We Americans have really enjoyed butchering the English language. :D

Got a massive hard on for the Thater 49125. However the hefty price tag and unavailability make it a no go. All I'm going to say is watch this space for a massive sub £50 silvertip alternative!

Greg

This is what I'm aiming for.

We'll see how it turns out! I'm currently looking at a cost price of £42 with a 28mm overstuffed silvertip. But I'll have to put some work into it.

Project Thaterlike is underway!

Donor brush:

Knot out:

This removed the polish and exposed lots of machine marks that had to be removed.

Working on finish, adjusting shape to match the thater:

Shape wasn't quite right, reworked it to soften the edges and broaden the facets.

Just needs a bit of polish:

Ready for a 28mm knot but could easily be opened up to take a 30mm.

Thanks to a tip from @PLANofMAN I managed to secure 3 Leon Hardy handles:

I have 20mm silvertip knot's en route.

I will be selling these at around £30. Do you fellas think that's a reasonable price? Leon Hardy silvertips go from anything between $115 and $200.
