That's correct Sir...Its not totally flat against the face as you say...With those Platinum Plus blades its a light touch as well as they can be too close for comfort in a more aggressive razor....They are fine in an a Type E 2 with care....Bare in mind though that these blades were intended for milder injectors of that era....Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso sensitive
Soap: Proraso Green
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: Traditional Shave co. badger
Razor: Schick Injector E2
Blade: Schick Injector Plus Plat (5)
After: WH, Proraso AS, St. James - Mandarin & Patchouli ASB
Last time I used this razor/blade combination I had a really rough shave and almost gave up using the Schick E2. Today's shave though was a complete reversal from the last time. Maybe it was the Proraso lather giving more protection but I think using the razor at a greater angle to the skin is the answer.
Schick's instructions are to use the blade almost flat against the face but it just seems too aggressive for me. Increasing the angle (i.e. handle closer the the face) seems to give a much smoother and more pleasant experience. The result was a nice close BBS.
Sometimes you need a different angle to get the full picture.
