S.O.T.D. Saturday 12th to Friday 18th September 2015

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso sensitive
Soap: Proraso Green
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: Traditional Shave co. badger
Razor: Schick Injector E2
Blade: Schick Injector Plus Plat (5)
After: WH, Proraso AS, St. James - Mandarin & Patchouli ASB

Last time I used this razor/blade combination I had a really rough shave and almost gave up using the Schick E2. Today's shave though was a complete reversal from the last time. Maybe it was the Proraso lather giving more protection but I think using the razor at a greater angle to the skin is the answer.
Schick's instructions are to use the blade almost flat against the face but it just seems too aggressive for me. Increasing the angle (i.e. handle closer the the face) seems to give a much smoother and more pleasant experience. The result was a nice close BBS.
Sometimes you need a different angle to get the full picture.

That's correct Sir...Its not totally flat against the face as you say...With those Platinum Plus blades its a light touch as well as they can be too close for comfort in a more aggressive razor....They are fine in an a Type E 2 with care....Bare in mind though that these blades were intended for milder injectors of that era....o_O

Blade: Feather Spineless

SOTD - Wed
Pre: RazoRock menthol/lime soap
Soap: Chiseled Face "Summer Storm"
Brush: Orchid Isles Curly Koa handle, Shavemac 23mm D01 Silvertip
Razor: Schick dial adjustable (M15)
Blade: (NOS) Schick Injector Twin (2)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel followed by Fine "Fresh Vetiver" ASL and a squirt of TF "Grey Vetiver"
Great shave this morning. First use of the Shavemac reknot and the D01 has a little scritch which should calm down after some break-in time but perfect loft and face-feel. The CF soap is flat-out awesome! Tallow is a big player so it has slickness in spades. I'm not really a fan of the scent (which is like a 'dirty' vetiver mixed with some citrusy notes) but I'll keep my eye out for other CF soaps. The Schick twin-blade continues to impress. Easy 3-pass BBS.

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam

Blade - Feather FHS-5 Hi-Stainless (#3)
Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Arko / Proraso Green / glycerine / mental crystals
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
Result - BBS

First go with VB4, felt very mild compared to the VC3 though. Took a little buffing past the three passes but still a smooth and comfortable result.

Second shave with the Mongoose, this time 3 passes as noticed I'd missed a tiny spot yesterday with my usual 2.

Razor feels mild even with a brand new blade in it and never felt that it would cut me as I progressed through my shave.

Still not feeling the 'goose love yet so will see what tomorrow and the rest of the week brings.
