S.O.T.D Saturday 6th July to Friday 12th July 2013

So this morning I used a new blade Raparia, the first thing I noticed was how good the first pass was much closer than anything else I have used so far. Just 1 tiny nick the styptic pencil sorted that out.

Razor:: Merkur 38C Barberpole
Blade:: Raparia
Brush:: Chinese badger
Cream:: Truefitt & Hill Lavender (Sample size) Bowl lathered
ASB:: Gillette Fusion (Was a gift pre DE Days)
Cologne:: Pecksniffs

Several points came out of this shave today. As mentioned above excellent first pass, the Truefitt & Hill Lavender Cream was really thick and creamy very easily achieved, the result is a BBS with no touch up's. I will post in the BST to see if anyone has a part used tub of Truefitt & Hill cream for me to have a good run at before buying more creams. I have to be careful saying this but this could now be my best DE shave to date.

I'm still getting good, close shaves. I think I'll try and push it a bit further.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave (sensitive)
Soap: Prof. Blighty's Grapewood (soap of the week)
Brush: Semogue 830
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal

After: Alum, Superdrug Forest Fresh AS, Coral Skin Food

Professor Blighty's Soap Week Day 1

Finally I have the soap of the week and am not on holiday, so here goes for a Professor week.

I load the brush for about half a minute and always get rewarding with lashings of creamy lather from the Prof's soap. Great scent, like breakfast grapefruit and makes for a smooth, effortless shave.
My experience with the Slim seem to get better every time I use it; especially since I turned the dial up to 7, on par with my Progress now.
Coral skin food to finish off feels light and fresh for these dog days of summer.

Result BBS with no irritation, cool.

Monday

Pre Shave: Proraso Pre Shave Cream
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless
Cream: TOBS Mr Taylor's
Brush: Semogue 1305
Post: Alum Block then Nivea Post Shave Balm

Best shave so far after converting a couple of weeks ago. First time with the Rapira blade and it felt very comfortable but don't know if it was the blade or if it was down to improvements in my lathering technique or shaving technique, probably a bit of all 3. I certainly feel as if I'm getting to know which directions my hair grows in different parts of my face and neck a lot better as time goes by and making adjustments to how I shave those areas is seems to be making a difference as well.

Tuesday 9th July 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Ever Ready 1924 Shovelhead
Blade: GEM Blue Star Carbon
Brush: Semogue 620 Boar
Soap: GZD Stick grated into a container
Aftershave: Simple Balm

Only a moderate shave caused by my idleness to walk back to my bedroom and get a new blade, when after less than half a pass I realised the blade I was using had 'died'.

The result was endless touching up something most definitely not required with this razor!

Regards
Dick.
