S.O.T.D Saturday 6th July to Friday 12th July 2013

Tuesday ix July, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Savon de Provence Shea Butter soap
Pre: Cold water splash
Brush: Plisson Burgundy Pur Blaireau
Cream: Musgo Real Lime Basil
Razor: Ikon 2pb
Blade: Personna Med Prep #2
Post: Liz Earle ASB
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Endymion

Result: Two things which annoy me when I stay in hotels - poorly lit bathroom and plugs which do not fit, so the water drains away. Why? Anyway, despite these two issues my shave this morning was excellent. First time out with the Plisson which lathered excellently. The Musgo has a subtle, underlying fresh scent and is an excellent cream.
I'm putting in a claim for a BBS this morning. Huzzah!

All the best,

Jon

Morning all,

Prep with Droyt soap
Proraso Pre Green
Proraso Green cream, bowl lathered
Progress with Treet Platinum
Proraso A/S

Nice smooth shave with all the 'P's :icon_surprised:

Tuesday morning

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
New Forest 1901 brush
Palmolive stick face lathered
Gillette super adjustable
Sputnik (3)
Alum and witch hazel gel
Old spice after shave

Nice result this morning

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave (sensitive)
Soap: Prof. Blighty's Grapewood (soap of the week)
Brush: Traditional Shaving Co. Pure Badger
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (@7)
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow (2)
After: Witch Hazel, Coral Skin Food

Professor Blighty's Soap Week Day 2

Another great lather day from the Prof. I'm getting consistent results from this soap and it's very easy and quick to build up thick lather.
Substituted witch hazel for alum & aftershave, feels just as good.

Have a great sunny day.

Prof Blighty English Oak (soap of the week)
EJ boar
Rotbart No. 20
Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge ("Yellow")
Sex Pistols EDP

I gave away/sold a fair bit of this soap a while back and consequently have four large nodules of the stuff which my brush hs to chase around the bowl. Can I microwave a glycerin-based soap like this? I might just give it a try as I have a one piece, bowl-fitting Grapewood one which will be easier to use.

Not shaved for a couple of days as I wanted to give the pass around Fatboy a last glorious go.....

So,
Hot shower
Sportstar shaving oil
Arko soap prepared by Vulfix Grosvenor (Bodger)
Pass Around Fatboy on 3 with a Super Max Orange blade loaded
Arko Nem olive oil balm
Ample splash of Pereja Lemon Cologne

As James Brown said - 'I feel good'
BBS
Fresh and clean - if I was made of chocolate, I'd eat myself!

Todays shave.

Razor EJ 89
Blade Winn Dixie
Cream Real Shaving Co Sensitive (£1.00) Bowl lathered
ASB Real Shaving Co Sensitive (£1.00) Second try with this
Brush Chinese Badger.

Up against the clock today so I tried a little experiment. 2 Passes only XTG and ATG. A couple of very tiny nicks only. Not BBS but more than acceptable. First use of the RSC ASB really irritated my face but today was fine. The cream was more than acceptable and is a handy travel size.

Was interested to read what you thought of these blades as don't know anyone else who has used them. Guessing the jury is still out till you get more time in a shave

TOBS Grapefruit cream scuttle lathered
Simpson Milk churn best badger brush
Gillette late 1940's fat handle tech
Gillette 7 o'clock sharp edge (1)
Cold rinse

First outing for the Tech and surprisingly good results. No modifications, shims and the like just as it comes. The blade seems to work well with this razor.

Tuesday Evening

Prep: Run, cold shower, cold splash
Razor: Aristocrat #16 loaned to me by the generous Sm304
Blade:Iridium Super (3)
Brush: JEC Aluminium/Brass with TGN Finest two band XH 26mm
Soap: Ingrams, face lathered with cold water
A/S:prorasso Green
Balm: Bluebeards revenge
Cologne/Edt Florida water

Really nice, close and comfortable shave. Only second time cold water shaving and it is great, especially given the weather!
I had just decided that I possibly prefer 2 & 3 piece razors, then I try the Aristocrat and I am back to square one again!
I usually change a blade after 3 shaves, but the Iridium Super feels like it still has more to give :)

Have a great evening!

If you ate your weight in chocolate, there would be a world shortage (and you would see the vomit lake from space) :icon_razz:
