Shave of the day with the Tatara titanium pass round.
Now this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.
I saw the forum saying do you fancy having a loan of a Tatara razor with both Nodachi and Masamune heads, I had previously used the Fatboy on the pass round, to really positive effect.
So why not?
That's where the problems began, I'd grown a beard! Do I like my beard, yes I do, but I hated my moustache, so I was toying with shaving it off.
Then out of the blue, it was my time for the Tatara pass round. Hey what the f**K! So decided to shave it off with the razor when it came.
I've attached Some photos. A before and After!
Razor Tatar Titanium,
Head Nodachi TI open comb.
Blade Feather (brand new).
Soap Saponificio Varesino Cubebe. (I love the richness of this soap)
Brush Yaqi professional, a huge synthetic brush
Preshave? Hot shower
Aftershave Floid original.
First consideration, Ive months of beard growth, don't believe the razor could mow this lawn. Give it a test, the brush as always lathers that hard Italian soap beautifully. Holds enough for numerous passes. It sailed through a test area below my right ear, absolutely no problem at all, apart from I filled the comb with several inches of growth really quickly. The sink looked horrid! I realised if I carried on like this it would take forever and probably block the sink!.
Beard trimmer set to 4mm. Off it comes, beard trimmings down the toilet!
Now here I go.
Much lighter than my Hawk V3 OC I used to use, also much smaller.
Despite its lightness i didn't have to use any weight to get it to drive. That was surprising. The angle of shave was really intuitive for me, It just shaved like a dream.
Got through a with the grain really simply, the end result was more than acceptable, believe me I've had far less close shaves from many many razors.
As Id gone for the beard removal, thought I'd do a real shave. More Lather, cross grain right to left, then more lather then left to right.
Pretty good! Again what struck me was how easy it is to drive this razor, its so light, and intuitive, it just shaves and shaves well. Just doesn't make sense. I like big heavy razors, some how I felt cheated, this wasn't big or heavy yet it competed and more than holds its own against my pre-conceived preferences.
More Lather, against the grain, again effortless. Listening attentively to the sound of cutting, clear indication, I like this. Few extra strokes on my chin jaw line, now to complete on my Adam' apple, this part has never been easy yet it coped as well as the best I've used. Also, I have to say not a sinle knick!
Wash off, cold water.
Then the realisation I've just got a baby's bum smooth shave. a really, really close shave. Then it happened....... fear! OMG what have I done, I haven't shaved in months! I've just done a 4 pass shave on fresh skin! I'm going to pay for this!
Aftershave!!!!! This is going to burn, yes it did, but no where near as bad as I thought it may.
I was really worried, told my wife I should have been far less ambitious with the first shave back, saying my face will explode. It didn't, no burn at all, truly remarkable.
All in All a sophisticated effortless shave. It shaves well, really well in fact. Its light so light I seriously underestimated it.
How much does this beauty cost?
I'll post another shave review soon.
Bit odd a difficult one to write.....
Not
Here goes. Several months ago I saw the offer to test a tatara razor with both Masamune and nodachi heads. I'll have some of hat I really enjoy
