What brush should i go for?

You must have some sort of price limit in mind. You can spend anywhere from a tenner to several hundred quid on a shaving brush.

    Hello from Sheffield U.K

Edwin Jagger razors are a great starting razor. As other people have already said, get a sample pack of blades to figure out which ones you like best as everyone is different. A few tips in addition to those already posted (which are all great advice): When you start out, stick with the same...

DE Shaving - Where am I going wrong?

One thing that really worked for me in terms of getting the angle right is to concentrate on making sure that the cap is touching your face as well as the blade as you shave. If you get the angle right it should just feel like you are stroking your face with the razor. It's more difficult to...

    DE Suggestions Please

Getting the angle of the razor correct is the key thing, along with no pressure. These are the biggest difference between DE shaving and cartridge shaving. I found that it helps to concentrate on making sure that the cap of the razor is touching the skin. If you can keep both the cap and the...

Where the Mitchell's wool soap belongs... in the bin!

From my point of view I think this it is a good benchmark soap for me to compare other soaps. I like the cushion and the slickness as well as the way my face feels afterwards. I am not saying that it is the best soap out there in all of these respects but it is pretty good all round especially...

    Silly question?

Sorry, I didn't mean to put you off asking questions. It's not a silly question at all it was me that was being daft. For the life of me I can't figure out why there might be a difference. That's probably more a reflection on my own lack of knowledge though rather than on your own experience.

Where the Mitchell's wool soap belongs... in the bin!

Every soap requires some effort unless you have managed to find one where you just look at the puck and the lather has magically appeared on your face. You seem to be a bit angry just because you don't like a soap that other people like.

What shaving cream are you using? Veet?

Where the Mitchell's wool soap belongs... in the bin!

It's still my favourite soap at the moment but I think there is a bit of a break in period for a new puck until it absorbs a bit of water and softens up a bit, especially if you are in a hard water area like me. Until that happens you have to put a bit more effort into loading the brush. I...

    Hi all

I would say it looks like you have a pretty good starting selection there. Some things you might want to consider (but not essential): Alum block or witch hazel. Styptic pencil. Some sort of aftershave or post shave balm.

    Hello from London, UK

Really? I have never bothered with any pre-shave other than bloom water when using MWF. I think its a YMMV issue.

    Omega S Brush?

Yes I also have the S10005 (the one with the beech handle). I don't have a problem with the backbone but the tips are a bit prickly for me. Maybe I'm just a bit more sensitive. :)

    Omega S Brush?

I have one too and to be honest I am not too impressed with it either. It's OK at producing lather for me but not as good as my Semogue 1305, and it's a bit scritchy.

    Going to try Proraso

My experience with Proraso is pretty good too. It might not have the more sophisticated scent that you find in some artisan soaps but performance wise there is nothing wrong with it in my book. As it's so soft I never put water on the soap before using (unlike MWF which works better for me with...
