S.O.T.D w/c Saturday 20th - Friday 26th July 2013

Monday night

Razor : Feather Popular
Blade : Polsilver SI
Soap : Cella
Brush : Body Shop
Splash : Old Spice Whitewater

Nice shave, always feels good after Cella, but although the BS brush lathers it with ease in a bowl subsequently applying it to your face with the brush isn't quite as easy. Back to the badger maybe tomorrow.

Prep face wash L'Occitane vetiver soap
Razor Japanese Gold Rex full hollow 13/16
Strop Kanayama cordovan #8000
Brush Simpsons chubby 1 in super
Mondial Italian Bergamot & Neroli soap
Alum & Thayers toner
Kiehl's aftershave balm
Penhaligon's Castile Edt

Japanese razors in my opinion are pretty hard to beat, they never seem to leave you feeling could I improve my shave, my answer would be no I'm always very satisfied with the end result, so which of my Japanese razors do I like the most?

Afternoon, gents.

Tuesday:

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Nanjie tto
Blade: Dorco 300 (2)
Brush: Ecotools kabuki
Shave soap: Arko stick
A/S: Yellow Ginger

Careful, careful - there! Another really close shave with no problems at all. Amazing.
I used the Arko partly because I was going first thing for a hair-cut from my Turkish barber. He set my ears on fire! On purpose! Terrific start to the day.

Simpson's Balm

Fantastic shave from the too-long-ignored super adjustable. Like the Fatboy, it feels as though it was made for the feather blade.

I have decided to start growing my beard again - I'm missing it - so it'll be just neck shaving from now on!

Wonderful mid-week shave!

The Merkur 33c head is useful now increasing the aggression a good notch.
Gives me an alternative to my "everyday" Merkur 34c.

Last nights shave, I was far too knackered to upload afterwards.

Prep: None, hot shower.
Brush: Omega 20102
Soap: Arko (first use for me)
Razor: EJ89
Blade: Rapira Swedish super steel (1) with shim
Post: Witch hazel, then some Floid 'Vigoroso'.

First time out with the arko, after wanting to try it for so long, and I was very impressed with this soap. I was expecting it to be much softer after reading on here, almost putty like really, alas that wasn't the case. It's softer than most other sticks I've tried but not as soft as I had expected. Still, rubbed around my face a few times made plenty of lather for 2 passes. This brush is new, the first time I've actually shaved with it, it's had only one test lather before so is far from being broken in yet. That being said it was still excellent, and I can see this jumping straight to the top of the pile in my small collection of brushes. Razor and blade as usual were excellent, and the Floid was very nice, first time using that too, and I'm very impressed for the price I paid for it.

3 days growth gone in 2 ATG passes. The closest shave in a long long time, dare I say BBS?

Wednesday:

Wednesday xxiv July, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Savon de Provence shea butter soap
Pre: Cold water splash, Vito's Crema Pre-Dopo Barba
Soap: Prep Sapona da barba
Brush: Frank Shaving Finest Badger Travel Turnback
Razor: Merkur Digress LD
Blade: Wizamet Polsilver #1
Post: Kiehl's Herbal Astringent, Zirh Post Shave Solution
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Endymion Cologne

Result: My new Digress arrived yesterday so teamed up with my favourite blade all made for a great shave this morning. Have to wait for a decent time (five mins or so) before applying the ASB over this particular astringent other wise they don't get on!

Have a good day.
