Shaved my napper (with a Feather blade)

shaving the head with a DE/SE is pretty easy, a little more tricky is a straight or feather. The skin on the head is much tighter which makes it a lot easier to do. I have tried it with a feather in the R41, don't think I liked it much, just a wee bit too aggressive for my liking. I prefer an SE...

    Shaving against the grain

Martin, even with cartridges I couldn't shave against the grain. Mackem, exactly the same here. Dick, I'm allergic to Daz for the same reasons (so is the wife, although it seems to depend on her mood)

    Ultrasonic Cleaner Recommendations?

yup you can! I have done quite a few and never had a problem, just don't use anything too harsh for the cleaning agent. Just a few drops of washing up liquid or similar and they'll come out nice and clean

    Shaving against the grain

Don't bother mate, is it really worth the hassle and pain? I can shave against only round my chin and just under my bottom lip, anywhere else and I end up in a mess. By all means keep experimenting to try and find a combination that will work for you, I have tried for the last two years with...

    WTB old spice mug lid

Sorry mate, but I waited an awfy long time to get one in good condition (and with the soap in it) You would have to prise it out of my cold, dead hands! As for the Tabac lid? First venture into DE shaving!

no need to pay mate, theyre not expensive and the postage is pennies. The feathers are good blades too mind, usually better on the second shave once they have dulled a wee bit, a good trick is to pull the blade through a bit of cork once or twice, gives you an excuse to buy a nice bottle of wine :-)

    First venture into DE shaving!

Yup, the Debys are crap and most likely the source of the crap shave (IMHO) Some like them, but most seem to be people with a fair few shaves under their belt and know how to get everything else right. I would go with the above suggestion of the Astra SP, a very good all round blade that works...

    first time brush restore!

You're right Rob, you won't see the cracks once the knot blooms. BUT, the fibres will catch on those jaggy bits and cause shedding, and apart from that I would know they are there and couldn't sleep until they were gone  Imagine giving you a lovely straight with some rust spots on it...

    first time brush restore!

well done so far! check outThe Turners Workshop for some pretty cheap but very good knots, all stocked in the UK so no waiting for a couple of weeks or more for delivery. If you had access to a lathe I would suggest chucking it up and getting rid of the cracks at the rim and boring the hole...

    What do I take?

I'd go with the tech as well. small, light, cheap, and pretty easy to get hold of another one if things go wrong. Would also recommend the La Toja stick. And if you wanted to bring some back I would happily take some of your hands in exchange for some pennies :-)

Gannet squad alert! New formula - TESTING

he's been licking too many of them! they produce a hallucinogenic substance on their skins you see, our old Martin breeds the things for his own use, which is why he keeps using perfectly good and serviceable razors as fishing sinkers. I'm pretty sure he also mixes it with some of the very...

    Hoovering heaven

Miele is good kit, worked on their washing machines and tumble driers for quite a few years, Very well built with quality parts, but VERY expensive to fix if they do go wrong, but they seldom do. I have worked on 20 year old washing machines that work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, 360 days a...
